All About Chocolate Covered Coffee Beans

If there's one thing I love more than any other in the world, it would defiantly have to be chocolate, not only is it the most delicious food ever, it melts in your mouth and contains endorphins which make you feel amazing. Coffee is also another one of my favorite treats, and I absolutely love spending cold winter nights just warming up under a blanket on my couch with a warm cup of coffee enjoying a great movie. Funny thing is, some smart cookies have now gone and combined these 2 great tasting foods into one delectable piece, chocolate covered coffee beans.

Chocolate covered coffee beans are great because if you've ever tried eating coffee beans or even straight coffee by itself you'll know its not the best taste. However, combining this taste with chocolate really just hits your taste buds bringing them to life with both a sweet taste and a slight kick from the coffee beans.

Not only this, but they are absolutely fantastic for students and anyone needing to stay awake late at night, providing similar levels of caffeine to coffee, they keep you going, and going, and going. Though its not all good, caffeine of course must always be taken in moderation, for huge quantities aren't all that great for your brain and can have you getting headaches and sickness when you stop taking it.

Now this wouldn't be a good article by only tempting you with the possibility of chocolate covered coffee beans would it? No I'm going to go a step further and show you how to make these delicious chocolate covered coffee beans.

First up you need to ensure you purchase high quality coffee beans. If getting them from just a normal grocery store then examine the beans and ensure they are up to scratch and are not squashed or broken at all. It may be even a good idea to visit a specialty coffee store to source your beans for it will make a huge difference to the taste of the final product.

Next up you need to source the chocolate for these chocolate covered coffee beans. The best kind of chocolate to use is dipping chocolate. It's harder to find but really does make the best tasting chocolate covered coffee beans. If you cannot source dipping chocolate you can use chocolate squares or choc-chips.

Now its time to melt the chocolate to prepare it for the covering. Remember that chocolate generally doesn't look like a puddle when its melted, it will keep a similar composure but be completely melted, so microwave it slowly checking every 30 seconds or so to ensure it hasn't melted. If you overcook the chocolate it can burn and will taste funny.

To cover the beans properly wait until the chocholate has slightly cooled so you don't burn yourself, then drop a handful of beans into the chocolate, mix them around a bit, and pull them out with a spoon. Let the excess chocolate drip off then place them on waxed paper. Leave them overnight to cool and enjoy the next day.
